Some Folks Sit...
I will soon be celebrating a big birthday in my life.  There are so many challenges and exciting things that I would like to tackle.  And this trip across the United States is certainly going to be a challenge.  But while some folks might choose to sit and watch life unfold around them, I am going to ride!

My trans-America bicycle trip began in San Diego on March 8, 2007.    I ride a Trek Pilot 1.2 WSD  bike.  The trip ahead will test me and my bike to the limit.  We will ride 50 to 60 miles each day, and some days we will ascend as much as 2,500 ft.  But I am up to the challenge, and I am having a terrific time!

I am using this website to document my trip, and I will be adding pictures to the galleries each week during the trip.  My blog will provide a regular journal of the trip, so please be sure to visit the blog and follow along with me.   Who knows, maybe you will be joining in a ride like this someday soon!

If you would like to sponsor my ride on behalf of breast cancer research, please click here to download the form.  My special thanks to those who have already contributed to this worthy cause.  Even though my trip is underway, it is not too late to contribute!

Retta is sending many pictures each day.  Only a few are used in her blog, but all of them are being archived in Yahoo Photos.  To see her complete archive, also viewable with  the Yahoo Photo Slideshow feature, please click here.
